Staircase Trim Repair & Painting in New Rochelle, NY

We handled a staircase and trim repair and painting job in New Rochelle, NY. When we started, paint on the curved stair skirt boards and moldings at the base of the stairs was peeling and chipped, lifting away in flakes and exposing raw wood in spots. The decorative millwork had lost its crispness under the failed finish. We filled the damaged sections of the skirt boards and moldings with wood filler to rebuild the surface. Once the substrate was solid, we prepped and repainted the stringers, risers, trim, and doors to a clean, consistent white finish across the stairwell. Handling the original brass mortise-lock hardware on the doors was part of the job. Rather than paint over it or replace it, we removed the backplates and knobs before painting began, kept them aside, and reinstalled them once the doors were finished. The staircase and doors in this New Rochelle home now carry that repainted finish, with the original brass hardware seated back in place.

Lawford and Ovation Contractors have been wonderful to work with. They replaced an exterior door for us and I was so pleased with the quality of their work and overall professionalism that I immediately hired him to do another job. Now he’s currently working up an estimate for a third job.
