What the work involves
Interior painting starts with prep: filling nail pops, patching minor wall damage, sanding, and priming any spot that needs it before color goes on. The proposal we leave with you spells out which surfaces are included, which paint products we're using, and where priming is called for.
Most rooms get two coats on walls, ceilings, trim and doors once prep is done. If a surface needs an additional coat to cover evenly — a color change over a dark wall, for instance — we flag that on the estimate rather than assuming it into the price.

What's included and what's quoted separately
Prep, patching of minor wall damage, priming, protection of floors and furniture, and cleanup are part of the job. We supply the paint, primer and consumables, and each appears as its own line on the quote, so you can see what you're paying for. You approve the paint color and sheen before we start.
If prep turns up damage beyond minor patching — a section of wall that needs more than filling and sanding, for example — we point it out and quote it as its own item before doing the work, rather than folding it into the painting price.
Timing and living through the work
Before we start, we walk through what needs to move — furniture, wall art, anything on the surfaces we're working near. Small items we can shift ourselves; larger pieces we ask you to clear or we work around them with protection down.
We cover floors and furniture that stay in the room, and we keep windows or fans going where ventilation helps the paint cure. Between coats, plaster and patched areas need time to dry properly before the next pass, and we build that drying time into the schedule instead of rushing it.
We clean up at the end of each work day, so the rooms we're not actively painting stay usable. Scarsdale allows construction work Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with no work on Sundays or legal holidays, and we plan our visits within those windows.
